摘要:随着时代的进步，当今科技的进步，当今时代已经进入服务经济时代。服务也随着技术的不断变化，演变出不同的进步方式，随之而来的现代服务业在进步中占有越来越大的比例。西蒙·库兹涅兹曾说过：现代经济增长不仅是一场工业革命，关键是一场服务业的革命。
现代服务业的基本特征是有着高知识，附加值高，素质性高，科技型高和发展迅速的特点。就我国国情而言，在工农业疲软的情况下，现代服务业是一个重要的突破口，能在当代经济进步中取得较大成果。近年来南通市以其独特的地理位置，在进步工农业的同时大力改善传统服务业，并且积极进步及旅游服务，信息服务，金融服务于一体的方特大型游乐城等设施建设，走上了可喜的现代服务进步之路。
本文借鉴国内外的现代服务业及相关经济理论，对南通市的现实现代服务业的进步和未来进步选择规划进行详尽评述。对于出现的问题，该文章就如何发展南通现代服务业，探讨其问题所在并提出合理建议。
