摘要
社区是社会的基础，是现代城市管理的基本单元，建设和谐社区在建设和谐社会中有着不可逾越的重要作用。增城市东湖社区在近年来不断加强了社区的建设工作，在社区居民自治，卫生、治安环境的改善，基础设施的投入建设，居民间的互动互助的精神培养等方面都有了很大的进步，促进了和谐社会的发展。但是东湖社区的建设起步较晚，没有太多的经验，在社区建设的过程中仍然存在不少问题。在建设中发现问题，解决问题，不断地改进社区建设的各项工作，才可以建设成现代和谐社区，为构建和谐社会打下坚实的基础。
