Abstract: In recent years, with the development of globalization and technology, American TV dramas become more popular. It unconsciously influences people’s behavior, way of thinking and values. The paper has four parts, namely, the general situation that American TV drama experiences its cross-cultural communication in China , Gossip Girl’s example to analyze the reasons for the popularity of American TV drama in China, the enlightenments to the development of domestic drama and the conclusion. The paper sums up the factors leading to American TV drama’s popularity and the improvements of domestic drama. It is believed that in the near future our domestic drama can go abroad and play important roles in cross-cultural communication.
