Abstract: Business contracts are legal documents, with accurate, elaborate and normative characteristics. Its language is different from the common language. This paper will first discuss the language features of business contract English, in the self-built corpus of English business contracts basis. It will also exemplify translation strategies and methods by the analysis of a vast number of terms existing in business contracts. Furthermore, the paper will provide a reference for the translation of English business contracts from the cognitive aspects of their functional classification study. With detailed theoretical analyses, this paper aims to offer practical and useful methods that can standardize the translation of business contracts in the future.
