ABSTRACT

 

As one of the most important contents of English teaching, vocabulary teaching is a primary link and an important part in English teaching. Without an adequate amount of English vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing can not be carried out smoothly, which will directly affect development of students' English ability. It is widely recognized that there are some unique features in English vocabulary teaching methods and strategies in junior high schools and New Oriental Schools. By comparing the different English vocabulary teaching strategies in New Oriental Schools and junior high schools, teachers can take advantage of these strategies and adopt some more practical English vocabulary teaching strategies, which is helpful to improve students’ vocabulary. Thus, it can improve the efficiency of vocabulary teaching and provide a guarantee of cultivating students’ comprehensive language competence.
