Abstract: The Old Man and the Sea is the most classical and representative work written by Ernest Hemingway, a famous American novelist. Its translation studies are still popular till now. Here two Chinese translations are chosen, one is translated by Eileen Chang who is a famous female translator and another is translated by Li Wen-jun who is a famous male translator. This paper will focus on analyzing the translation differences of resulting from the different sex of translators. Feminism is a popular way of analyzing the literary works in the world which pays attention to different sexual translators' translation differences. Then by comparing these two Chinese translations of The Old Man and the Sea from three points of topic understandings, translation styles and language expressions, the author try to find out whether translators' gender consciousness has impacts on translation and what kinds of impacts it has.
