Abstract:Code switching appears in bilingual or multilingual communities as a common phenomenon which is a consequence of international connection. This study aims to investigate the cognitive and pragmatical on Chinese English code switching in Chinese pop music. There are two aspects in this study exploring code switching in Chinese pop songs. One is motivation, such as lyricist’s personal motivation, social motivation and language motivation. And the other is pragmatical function which includes adaptation to linguistic reality and adaptation to social conventions. This research helps people know much about the background of pop songs and also contributes to using code switching in daily life by strengthening the knowledge on code switching.
