Abstract:E-C subtitle translation of film and television programs has a direct effect on the domestic audience, such as their proper understanding of the theme and their appreciation of culture and art revealed in film and television programs, etc. Today, with the rapid development of China’s internet culture, Chinese internet buzzwords in E-C subtitle translation of film and television programs have been gaining more and more popularity. The artful and skillful adoption of them in translation not only enriches the expressions of film and television programs and draws the attention of large numbers of Chinese audience, but also reflects the instructive guidance of domestication strategy in subtitle translation.

Based on cases study of two American situation comedies, Two Broke Girls and The Big Bang Theory, this thesis mainly analyzes the sources of Chinese internet buzzwords employed in subtitle translation and reveals the significant role of domestication strategy in subtitle translation. It also points out the issues in the application of Chinese internet buzzwords in subtitle translation so as to effectively promote the sino-foreign cultural communication and fusion.
