Abstract:The film is an international art form which is most widely spread. With the development of international exchanges, more and more Hollywood movies expand into China. At the moment; the translations of English movies play a role as a bridge between east and west in the film exchange, especially the translation of the title. The title is also a very important factor for a blockbuster, besides the wonderful story and the famous actors. A good title directly affects the audiences’ interests to the film. As an important part of the film translation, the translation of title is an important and creative work. The quality of the title directly affects the transmission of a film. The translation of the title is a recreation. In order to make the title achieve functional equivalence, the title should be honest to the original, connecting to the content, reflecting the film theme, outstanding the film style, but also be concise and comprehensive and easy to remember. At the same time, the title conforms to the Chinese for the Chinese audiences. Based on the analysis of large number of film translation examples, I will point out the principles and methods in translation. In translation, we should use transliteration; free translation, literal translations and mixed translations to make the form and content achieve unity.
