Abstract:Marriage culture is an important part of human history and social culture. Every nation has its existing form of marriage,which is composed of social culture development and gender relations; it is a kind of historical phenomenon. This paper mainly introduces the differences of Chinese and western marriage culture in the concept of marriage culture , marriage mode, and marriage customs. Chinese and western marriage culture has a history of thousands years. Chinese ancient marriage culture is traditional. People's marriage culture is largely affected by the traditional religious Confucianism. In the modern China, people pay more attention to the real benefits and happiness of marriage. In contrast, the ancient western marriage culture is influenced by religion and marriage law. It advocates the freedom of marriage and longing for life free. Along with the development of economy and the deepening of opening, more and more people have the pursuit of love and marriage quality of marital perceptions ; therefore, their views have changed. Modern western marriage culture is even more complicated and more open than before. But some view of marriage, such as the freedom of marriage is still the mainstream idea. Chinese and western marriage culture has their own characteristics. By the analysis of the differences between Chinese and western cultures, we can comprehend the respective cultural traditions of China and the west. And we can also improve and create Chinese culture.
