Abstract:Lexical cohesion refers to the cohesive effect of the use of lexical items in discourse and does great contributions to the understanding of the English mascot design introduction. Taking Halliday and Hasan’ lexical cohesion theory as the framework, this paper aims at analyzing lexical cohesion phenomenon in the English mascot design introduction. In the example of English mascot design introduction, the article finds that using synonyms as lexical cohesion is to embody the theme of the discourse; antonyms, to demonstrate the comparison of the different sides of the theme; and hyponyms, to develop the details. The using of the relationships can be achieved to make the article coherent while reduce the other extra discourse connectors to make the text concise.

摘要:词汇衔接指词汇使用过程中语篇上的衔接，它对我们了解吉祥物设计介绍(英语)有着重要的意义。本文以韩礼德和哈桑的词汇衔接理论为框架，旨在分析吉祥物设计介绍中的词汇衔接现象。通过对英语吉祥物设计为例，本文发现，同义关系主要用于发展文章的主题，反义关系主要用于展示主题不同侧面的对比，上下义关系主要用于细节的展开。这些关系的使用都可以达到使文章连贯的功能，同时词汇衔接手段的使用可以减少其它额外语篇连接词的使用从而能使文章更简洁。
