Abstract:Film can be a very effective medium for language teaching. It is popular and accepted by some English learners. Watching English movies will play an important role in English learning. Therefore, it is of great value to study how to employ movies in English learning. This paper aims to discuss what the learners can learn from movies and how English movies can be used in English learning.
This paper points out that movies help language learning from the following aspects:
1.Improving pronunciation;
2.Understanding social backgrounds and customs of English-speaking countries;
3.Reading literary works.
Then it discusses how to employ movies in language learning in the following three steps:
1.Before-watching
2.While-watching
3.Post-watching
